“Another thing that I love about Bierschenke is that they’re passionate about fostering a sense of community. Aside from live music events and pubquizzes, they’ve also held fundraising events for mental health charities, and have introduced a LGBT “Queer-Schenke Oktoberfest”. That’s something worth applauding.” That Anxious Traveller 24th July 2018.
When we tell you that our Signature beers are brewed by a Bavarian craft brewery; that all the fixtures and fittings in Bierschenke were built in Bavaria; and that our meat and sausages are imported from Bavaria it becomes clear that Bierschenke is about offering an authentic Munich BierKeller experience. However, we are, of course, in the City of London, not Munich, and our range of German food and beers reflect the increasing diversity of German culture.
But, as That Anxious Traveller perceived, Bierschenke is about more than great food and wonderful beer. Bierschenke is about “Gemütlichkeit” – that feeling of well-being and contentment that comes from friends and good company and those perennial X factors – Beer, shots and FUN!
Oktoberfest is, as you all know, the biggest Volkfest, in the world and its very name conjures images of people sitting shoulder to shoulder with huge Steins of beer, singing, swaying and having a good time! Bierschenke’s Oktoberfest has been a sell-out for the last eight years and this year, from 19th September till 10th November, Bierschenke will be dedicating six weeks, Wednesday to Saturday, to this year's event. With traditional Oktoberfest decorations, great German beers, traditional Oktoberfest dishes, a DJ and, of course, live Oompah, from the incomparable Bavarian Strollers, at Bierschenke, you will enjoy an authentic and unforgettable Oktoberfest experience.
The Queer-Schenke Gay Oktoberfest is the latest incarnation of this great party. The gay side to Oktoberfest in Munich is, now, very well established with the first Sunday being dedicated to the LGBT community; it is the second biggest gay event in Munich after Pride! It seemed only natural that London’s premier Oktoberfest venue should offer our LGBT community the same unrestrained atmosphere on the first Saturday of our Oktoberfest. The format is the same as for every other night of Oktoberfest, but we expect the atmosphere to be a little more fruity! All you Gays and Gals should be prepared for naked skin, homo-tastic competitions, outrageous entertainment and a fab host to lead you through a long night to remember.
Gather your friends and lovers, dust off your Dirndl, leap into your Lederhosen, tighten your harness and make sure to wear your Sunday-best eleganza extravaganza to make a divine entrance to The Queer-Schenke Gay Oktoberfest! ENTRY IS FREE!
