When we tell you that Bierschenke’s Signature beers are brewed by a Bavarian craft brewery; that all the fixtures and fittings in Bierschenke were built in Bavaria; and that the meat and sausages are imported from Bavaria, it becomes clear that Bierschenke is committed to offering an authentic Munich BierKeller experience. Our staff, in Dirndls and Lederhosen, serve 250,000 litres of great German beer a year, together with traditional German food to customers who sit, in true Bavarian style, shoulder to shoulder at long wooden tables that were imported (surprise, surprise!) from, Bavaria. Little wonder then, that Bierschenke brings “Munich to London”.
But, Bierschenke is about more than great food and wonderful beer. Bierschenke is about “Gemütlichkeit” – that feeling of well-being and contentment that comes from friends and good company and those perennial X factors –
Beer, shots and FUN!
Bierschenke opens its ninth Oktoberfest on Wednesday,19th September at 5pm with the traditional Fassanstich ceremony and will run Wednesday to Saturday every week for six weeks, until 3rd November. With their beer hall bedecked with traditional Oktoberfest decorations, great German beers, traditional Oktoberfest dishes, a DJ and, of course, live Oompah, from the incomparable Bavarian Strollers, at Bierschenke, you get an authentic and unforgettable Oktoberfest experience.
The gay side to Oktoberfest in Munich is, now, very well established with the first Sunday being dedicated to the LGBT community and is the second biggest gay event in Munich after Pride! It seemed only natural that, as London’s premier Oktoberfest venue, we should offer our LGBT community the same unrestrained atmosphere on the first Saturday of our Oktoberfest. So, on Saturday 22nd September, we are holding the latest incarnation of our well-established Oktoberfest - the “Queer-Schenke” Gay Oktoberfest. All the same fun as the other parties but with a little extra!
All told, we think this is as close as you can get to Munich without leaving London.
